I really loved the fabric I made The Mantilla blousee from and so when I needed a nice white lacy blouse I decided it would be ideal. I just wanted it to wear with my jeans during the Summer, and we had some beautiful weather this week and some tremendous storms too! Anyway, as we had a teacher training day I decided The Friday was a good name for it!
I used this free pattern-NewLook 6217 from Sew Home and Style magazine. It has a full capsule for your holidays. So far I have made the blouse twice….yes, my Mum wanted a simple blouse with the fabric she bought in Scarborough. I also just made my friend a kimono in black lace- see end of post!
I love the back of it with the pearl button.
Why was I twirling?? I have no idea! It seems I can’t stop!
Fabric: 1 metre of lace Chet from White Tree Fabrics. I bought it myself and made use of my 20% code- SEWDEPUTY- use it at the checkout. It’s free P and P too!
Pattern: NewLook 6217
Wonky Factor: 8/10 I love the back more than the front!!! It’s very comfortable to wear but it was quite cold weather and I was determined not to cover the beautiful lace with a cardi!! I’ve worn it quite a few times now, so a welcome addition to my wardrobe.
Tips for sewing lace…… Use a very slight zig zag to your stitch and just sew as usual! It is really is easy to do….and hides all the wonkiness!!!
I also made the kimono up for a friend to take on her holiday. She was delighted!
